DATABASE AND FINANCIAL APPLICATIONS

Since 1982, database and financial applications have been the focal point of our technical services. In the early years, our work was primarily with desktop and LAN applications; Now over 50% of our work is oriented to web and browser-based implementations.

Database applications: We develop applications using the entire range of Microsoft database products: SQL Server, Access, and Visual FoxPro. We also develop using MySQL/PHP. Applications that are built in a lower platform are designed so that they are upgradable to higher platforms. Since 1998, every database application which we write is pre-equipped to easily be implemented on the web and intranets.

Also, any application with any financial functionality is pre-equipped to be easily integrated with Visual AccountMate or Interprise, and to be ready for web/intranet.

The most critical part of a database application is the Data Model for the application. This is the "architectural blueprint" which specifies the structure of the database, the business rules which control the database, and the mapping of the data structures to the outside world of business. A superior Data Model provides insight and excellent functionality, and it promotes a long lifespan for the system. We have used Data Modeling and related technologies almost since the inception of these concepts in the early 1980's; and we have made research contributions in these methodologies. We apply Data Modeling and other design/management disciplines in every database project.

Financial/ERP applications: We focus on financial/ERP applications for mid-size companies. We specialize in two midrange ERP systems:

AccountMate: "Tried-and-true". Well-engineered, reliable, medium-functionality. Microsoft SQLServer and VisualStudio. Open source. This is one of the best of "OldERP".

Interprise: "The latest and the greatest". State-of-the-art Microsoft .NET technology. Big functionality, beautifully-engineered. Open source. Long upgrade path. Superb e-business functionality. This is the best of "NewERP".
