Interprise ( www.interprisesolutions.com ) is the cutting-edge for ERP software. We think it represents the future of ERP.
Architecture:
The software framework
for Interprise is Microsoft .NET . This is Microsoft's latest
software language/framework; and for ERP applications it is almost
certainly the best. .NET allows massive software applications to be
built that are reliable, maintainable, and expandable. (Although
Microsoft has taken some knocks for some of its products, the truth is
that its software development products are almost always excellent. And
among Microsoft's dev products, .NET is one of the very best.)
Using .NET, Interprise has constructed a platform
(the "Connected Business Platform") which is a collection of about 2000
basic functions that are desirable for any ERP product. These functions
include: Data dictionaries, screen vocabulary, report writers, email
handlers, database maintenance functions, security, and so on.
Interprise's technical team spent several years developing the CPB.
Using the CBP as a foundation, Interprise developed application content
- the specific screens, logic, reports that comprises what the end-user
sees. The CPB has allowed Interprise to create application content
quickly and consistently. Part of the CPB is a System Development Kit
("SDK") which promotes rapid, consistent development.
Business Strategy:
To
leverage the maximum results from the above, Interprise decided to make
its product "open source". The SDK and related materials are available
to software developers free of charge. Using the SDK, a developer may
add new application content and even add functions to the CBP.
Interprise
encourages third-party development of extensions to the base product.
Additionally, Interprise has set up a mechanism so that developers may
publicize and sell their extensions.
The SDK and the CBP are
designed so that all developers are forced to write code that is
uniform and consistent. So, products built with the SDK generally look
and feel like part of the main product.
The CBP has allowed
Interprise to design a product upgrade strategy that guarantees that
new versions of the product are compatible with old versions.
Interprise provides software that allows a user to migrate rapidly from
one version to the next. Especially valuable: Customization that is
written using the SDK will generally be compatible with future versions
of the main product (the CBP enforces this).

e-commerce: If Interprise core system is set up in an appropriate way,
a default website comes up automatically. The website is rich in
features and may be customized extensively.

Interprise-managed "cloud". Well-managed and reliable, with "bonus"
features provided by Interprise (e.g. fast installl/upgrades)
